Adare Manor repeats in Clement L. Hirsch (G1)
Michael Lund Petersen’s incomparable Adare Manor made it three straight graded wins with her victory in the Aug. 3 Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1) at Del Mar, a race she also won last year as a 4-year-old.
The Hirsch victory assures Adare Manor and entry into the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) this November at Del Mar.
Instead of being on the lead, as is customary, Adare Manor was off the pace in the early stages of the Hirsch. She wasn’t asked to go after the leaders until turning for home. She flew by Scylla in midstretch and rolled on to a 2 ¾-length victory.
“She broke good and relaxed, so I was happy,” said winning rider Juan Hernandez. “This wasn’t a perfect trip for her, but it was fine. She’s not bothered by the kick back so where we were OK. I rode her with a lot of confidence; she was running with a lot of confidence. We made our way through that little bit of trouble we had and she was off and running. She is one of the best fillies I’ve ever ridden.”
Adare Manor has now earned $2,096,600 and sports a record of 10-5-0 from 18 starts, with eight graded stakes wins to her credit.
